Default copper/gold metal flakes in g2

I have a Yamaha g2 that has gold/copper metal flakes in the oil. What can that be? I am fairly handy on a 4 stroke engine but this is the first Yamaha. The rod bearing has minimum wear and is a silver coating. The crank bearings seem to be in great shape and look steel. There is a decent amount of metal in the valley under the rocker arms which leads me to the top end since its a "splash" system. But the engine runs perfect... Is there a copper thrust washer on the crank? Any guess where the copper is coming from?

Is there any chance some one added a additive to the oil at one point? I have read a lot about products that can "fix" or " rejuvenate" your old worn out engine. It is not the way to go in one of these engines but people do purchase the products.

Thanks for the reply...I have googled and searched until my fingers hurt. lol I did find that oil treatment is a possibility that I found. I have talked to two engine rebuilders and they seem to have the same story of only very limited J38 engines ever had brass or copper in the bearings. (some had brass inserts for the cam and balancer in the cases) Mine doesn't..

You might want to pull the head and check the valve/valve guide fit. That upper area looks awful cruddy.

Yea I agree...where can I send the head to have it freshened up? Resurface and the valves and springs checked?
