Default Load testers

What battery load tester do you recommend for doing 6-8-12 volt batteries?

The golf cart is the BEST load tester. Simply install or put a voltmeter on the pack and head up a hill = bigger load than any cheap tester.

Another alternative is a professional Lester battery draw-down tester. I think these run anywhere from 400-600 dollars. https://lesterelectrical.com/product...harger-tester/

That’s a great solution but I want to be able to test individual batteries. Thanks for the reply.

Clip the meter on 1 battery at a time and make 6 runs up the hill, record all 6 low readings. You will have a pretty good picture of the batteries then... assuming steep hill and a passenger

Or you can keep talking yourself into that cheap harbor freight load tester. I can tell you, all those are good for is spotting "totally screwed" batteries when it comes to golf cart batteries.

And you can do that with the handheld voltmeter you or your neighbor already have.... even if it's analog

I agree that for accurate testing the Golf Cart is the best tester. But I do have one of those harbor freight testers as well. If you read it correctly, it can be useful in spotting weak batteries in a pack quickly.

What’s the lowest the battery voltage should drop when driving up a hill? The cart I have is a 2016 G29. I am seeing a 6 volt drop on steep hills. The batteries are less that three years old, have been cleaned and have fresh 4ga cables.

6v drop on a 48v pack is marginally bad which means if there is just one person in the cart or the hill is modest that's a bad reading. And those batteries could be on their way out

If you mash the gas and it drops to 42v, and stays there for more than about a half a second, you got battery problems.
