Upgrade recommendations for a Yamaha G19 Limo
I recently purchased a 1998 Yamaha G19 that has been stretched into a 6 person limo cart. Nothing was done to the controller, motor or the suspension. I use the cart in an area with moderate hills and it see's some slight off-road use. Currently the cart is slow, and bottoms out the suspension on bumps and off-road. I’m looking to start doing some upgrades and wanted some opinions on my plans below.
Stage 1: Alltrax XCT 500 with upgraded solenoid and cables but leave it turned down to 400 amps for use with stock motor. From my research this is the strongest/best controller that I can find that will work with the stock motor and also be able to supply more power if a motor upgrade is needed. I have had a 500 amp Alltrax on my club car for a couple years and have been very happy with it. This should take care of the speed issue for now and be a solid base to start from. Item #15 from https://www.cartsunlimited.net/alltrax-xct-sepex--.html Stage 2: Jakes Long Travel lift kit with independent front suspension, 23x10.5-12” tires, and heavy duty springs. This should give better clearance, more stability and stop bottoming out the suspension. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HJG7V8M...v_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CF8N8FI...v_ov_lig_dp_it Stage 3: At this point I expect a speed and power loss from the lift and tires. I will need to upgrade the motor for one with more torque and speed. Here is where I need some help. Most of the time the cart will only have about a 500 pound load of a couple people. Taking trash to dumpsters going to park or fishing pier etc. Occasionally when some of my larger friends are hear and we are fishing or having a party there can be as much as 1500-1800 pounds. This is quit a load and might be an issue on some of the steeper hills. Currently the cart will climb the steepest of the hills with this full load but it is not happy about it!!! Will the stock motor with the added Amps be enough to make up for the larger tire size? If not I have been researching more powerful motors and i'm looking at the following: D&D 170-502-0001 (8.9 or 13.5hp) - I get mixed recommendations on if this will or will not have enough torque. It will also require some fabrication as it is 4" longer than the stock motor so I will need to move the shock mounts. https://ddmotorsystems.com/GolfCartMotorPage.php Plum Quick Gorilla 15.8hp - This should have plenty of torque, but will it have the top speed that will make the every day ride enjoyable? https://plumquick.com/custom-built-m...alypse-yamaha/ Plum Quick Street Riot 16hp- This has both a speed and torque increase. Is the touque enough with my weight an load requirement? https://plumquick.com/custom-built-m...t-riot-yamaha/ I appreciate any comments or help that you guys can provide |

Re: Upgrade recommendations for a Yamaha G19 Limo
I just put a Fsip motor (Torqueeyya) on a ydre limo with alltrax & it worked real nice, and still got 19mph with stock tires. Your application is gonna munch that stock motor pretty quick with a alltrax at any setting. BTW, I put the fsip motor on there because stock motor was out to lunch.
