G1 fast acceleration then loss of power
Hey guys I’m having an issue with my G1 where I am able to accelerate full speed then maybe after a few seconds it’ll quickly slow down, then 3 seconds later speed up again. It will continue to do this over and over. It won’t shut down but will drive very slowly then full speed. I just recently purchased it so am planning on replacing the fuel lines, carburetor, and fuel pump and spark plug. Previous owner removed air box and put in KNN filter which I washed and re-oiled. This cart does not have a fuel filter so I am adding it also. Has anyone had this problem before? Is there a particular area I should look into? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
I know there’s a few similar threads but mine doesn’t struggle going uphill, I can even have both rear wheels up on jacks it does the same thing. Thinking maybe it’s not getting enough gas?? I thought it was the governor slowing it down so I bypassed it but still has the same issue. |

Re: G1 fast acceleration then loss of power
G1's are unique in that they are 2 stroke engines. There's a lot of things that normally will wear out over time. Here's my thoughts:
1. Ditch the K&N, makes it run lean 2. Get a G1 air filter housing and filter etc 3. Remove carb and clean thoroughly, replace float and needle valve 4. New spark plug and fuel filter 5. Replace the fuel in the tank if it's not new 6. Check the crank seals, see sticky's, replace as needed 7. Check condition of belt and clutches, replace as needed 8. Disconnect the oil injection system and premix to 85:1 The G1 is a super reliable and durable cart. If you address all of the above it will run like new and run for a long time. |

Awesome sounds good. Thanks for the info. Would you know by chance where I can get the G1 air filter housing/filter?

Re: G1 fast acceleration then loss of power
The G1 air cleaner and hose off the carb are getting hard to find. There are jets available for the carb if you can tune
Inspect the fuel line in the tank as I've seen them crack and suck air when the fuel is low |

Re: G1 fast acceleration then loss of power
Here is another tip I have found fixed running issues with my G1...When it had running problems and was backfiring and was just dull...I jacked up the back wheels , remover the air filter hose from carby..hit the loud peddle and reved it up then gave short bursts of carby cleaner into the throat of the carby...the motor will die down so wait till it picks up revs again and then give it another burst down the throat of the carry...do this 6 or 8 times and it had mine was running like a swiss watch in no time...
