I am waiting for a crankcase gasket. I have some new standard NTK plugs and am thinking of just buying a new clone carb as well. Like I said too, there are a few things I want to clean up and redo.

Hate when that happens Where are you getting your parts from? Do you use a Briggs dealer and enter your serial number etc?

I used the part number from the parts manual and I accidentally ordered the wrong one on Amazon. I went with amazon because every other place wanted $15-20 in shipping. Luckily they have a good return policy and I have the right one on the way. I ordered on my phone and sometimes it’s hard to see all the details and I missed that it was the wrong part number.

Amazon is pretty nice, we've been spoiled by it actually. Seems you can find just about anything there, with Prime free shipping and free returns. I just took a half dozen items back to Khol's for Amazon return, just too easy, and no cost. I use Amazon all the time, can't lie. When it comes to specialty parts though....I usually go to a dealer of some sort and try to talk to someone live. I'm a car guy so car parts, peformance stuff, things like that I always go to a dealer. Cart parts is no different, I usually buy Briggs parts from a certain dealer, cart clutches I get from certain sponsors like CPP and Vegas Carts, althoug I have bought stuff from Plowman's and others. I was a small business owner at one point and I have a certain affection for supporting local businesses when I can and when it makes sense.

Anyway, look forward to more progress with your build!

Quick question regarding the carb. If I remove the fuel shut off solenoid, being as I am not gravity feeding the fuel I do not need to worry about shutting the fuel off do I??

Remove it, break off the plunger and reinsert. Leave it unplugged.

I was able to put in a few hours of work on it this morning. I have the new carb on and have the motor back in but have not fired it yet. Had a good fight with the oils filter, ended up having to use an 18” pipe wrench to get it off. Had to go visit my father in law who is dying of cancer. Hopefully I can get to it in the next couple of days.

I will upload pics later
