Default Need Help with KF82 engine!!

I have a 91 club car with a KF82 flathead motor that was running before I replaced the rod in it and when I put it back together now it won't start. It is backfiring through the carb. I have aligned the marks on the camshaft and even tried turning the cam 180 degrees to see if that would make a difference. It has good strong compression and consistent spark. The only other thing I can think of is that I switched the flywheel with the one off my 86 Club Car which also has a KF82 motor, Could that be the reason this engine won't start? I have been working on this for several weeks now and am at my wits end with it!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The last time I had this happen the motor was turning backwards. check your rotation to see if it is correct.

Your on the right track sounds like a timing issue? Good Spark, Good

Compression, Try the old flywheel and also make sure it is wired like it was

before the rebuild.

Thanks for the suggestions. Gonna switch the flywheels and see if that makes a difference. I'll keep you posted.
