Default Black smoke, carbon and backfiring

I have a 1997 TXTG. I am having a problem with it being for cold blooded and when it does come on line with both cylinders it will run at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle but at full throttle it starts missing and omits black smoke from the exhaust.

I have tried the following

New Plugs

Set valves cold at .004

Replaced fuel filter

I believe I have a carb issue but do not know alot about them.

Suggestions?

THanks,

Kelly

I would be so very surprised if it is NOT a booger in the carb or a timing issue.

I am going with carb as my first bet.

One question is also the flow of the juice.
Is it restricted in any way ??

EDIT: What about the power of the power ??
In other words is the spark HOT ??

I think it is the carb, nothing has been changed in the timing or spark. I think it is okay. Any hints on rebuilding the carb. Also do you agree with .004 cold being the proper adjustment for the valves.

Thanks,

Kelly

Kelly.
I do NOT know the setting for the valves but to do the carb I would guess is to take it down and do a look seee.

I have owned only one cart and this one I just got id it.

I AM GREEN but I have a mechanical head big time from doing about everything that runs.

.004 cold per Ezgo.... Clean your carb... Just disassemble, spray with carb. clean and thoroughly blow out all orifices with compressed air. Take the time to take it apart and make sure all the small pinholes are open. Reassemble and put it back on.

Yep,YEP..

I also do NOT use my toothbrush.

If you do NOT have a compressor, use the can air.

Okay, now it is running better but pass 3/4 throttle it starts missing and back firing through the carb. Almost like a burnt intake valve. Any idea on the leak down #s for one of these motors and if it is an intake valve anyone had experience with this?

Thanks,

Kelly

Did you ever check to see if you might have a leak in a gasket, or a vacuum issue.

Do these things have vacuum lines ??
