Painting the plastic body G16
My neighbor has a G16 and he has tried to paint the body using Krylon Fusion (Blue). He stripped the body down to the plastic, cleaned and sanded it and then painted it and the paint reacted with something and bubbled up and checked real bad. He then sanded it down, tried again and got the same results. Any ideas? Should he have primered it first? If so, can he use any automotive primer? It does look like it has some bondo in it in some spots (Pink color) Thanks!!

Re: Painting the plastic body G16
Use plastic adhesive/promoter prior to using the primer of your choice
any auto parts store should have it . one spray can will cover the cart parts. It provides a base that allows the primer to adhere. Rex |

Rustoleum at autozone has a plastic primer in a spray can that has an adhesion promoter. I've had really awesome lock with it.

Re: Painting the plastic body G16
You have to clean it really well, I would use soap like dish soap, dry, then naptha or mineral spirits. Make sure you don't leave it on there wipe off right away and be careful some plastics naptha will soften if you leave it on. Only then should you sand it though I would only use very fine wet paper 1000 or finer. I would use adhesion promoter on it first, then a plastic primer usually you can use bumper primer walmart used to have it or bumper black semigloss in a can, or any automotive primer for plastic bumpers (for flexible parts) if you need a lighter color base. Then just scuff sand it or light wet sand, deal with any areas you need to fill or block down, recoat those, scuff them, and then paint. The primer makes a barrier over the plastic. You don't want thick primer, you never want build up on plastic it makes it crack more later, only use what you need for a light coat and build up only for damage repair. You can get flexible fillers for plastic.
