![]() i have a similar problem right now and have another thread going. My differential housing is cracked and leaked oil.
I am going to lift it up (on a lift) apply epoxy putty to the crack and once that sets up I will cover it with JB weld epoxy just to be sure. I found a place around me that will sell me the setup used for $1,100 cdn or NEW for $2000 CDN. I'm thinking for $15 i will try the epoxy route first. King |

![]() We bottomed out my Wifes' G16,Cracked the bottom of the housing. For some reason,Yamaha ends the skid-plate in front of the axle!!I drained the axle, washed it out with brake-clean and dried it.Then covered it with JB-Weld,let it sit a day,and filled it up.Been fine ever since.I'll get a plate Tig-Welded on it over the winter.Hope this helps.

![]() Changa, you would know better than me, but I would think the aluminum would be stress cracked, and eventually continue to crack till it failed.

![]() It depends on how it cracked.Mine broke right on a parting-line of the casting. If you drill the ends of the crack before welding it up,they won't spread.A safer alternative is to drill the cracks, weld them up,and weld a plate over the area. That way its got extra strength built into it.
