Default Is there a test procedure for a Pulser Coil?

I have a 89 ezgo 3pg engine. I was not getting any fire, so I decided to replace the Coil, the Igniter, and the Pulser Coil. The new Coil, was an after market, and after these parts were all on, I went to start it and the coil lead wire started smoking. Shut the key off and removed the coil to find, the insulation on the coil was gone and the wire was going to ground. Replaced that coil with another one, and now I only get fire when It first goes to turn over, and when I go to shut it off. Fires a nice blue flame for about 2 revolutions of the motor, and then stops.
When it shorted that wire on the coil, did I short out the Igniter, or Pulser Coil??
Is there a test procedure for these parts?

I believe you can search the tech section and the manuals will give you some ohms values for the pulsar so you can test it.

To check the pulser you can ohm it out. the ohm value is in the tech section. You can also do a voltage check on the pulser.Unplug the pulser and check for ac voltage while spinning over the engine over on the starter. It should make about a half volt ac give or take a little. My gut tells me you fried the igniter though.... Good luck...
