check to make sure the 9/16" headed nut on the pivot shaft is not too tight. I just bought a stock 1982 that had a new switch installed prior to purchasing and the nut was so tight the brass contacts were hitting the edge of the other contact, thus creating a difficult shift. I loosened the pivot nut 1/4 turn and it shifts like a dream!

I loosened nut and lubed the switch, works great now, thanks everyone
