Default 88 2pg "Dieseling" (run-on) after warmed up

Well, the cart has had a total electrical overhaul from the Pulsar to the Plug (literally - ALL new components) and now I'm having a new minor issue, when cold the cart runs great but loses a little power after warming up (all the usual suspects, crank seals, compression, carb, muffler, etc all OK) and it's starting a new habit of "dieseling" or "run-on" after I shut her down (literally it will continue to chug and run for almost 20 seconds after I kill the ignition) - as part of the rebuild I did the HEI conversion and went with a low-resistance (1.8ohm) high-output coil, could this be the culprit or am I overlooking something (relatively) obvious?

Thanks in advance!

Taking the issue back to basics.

When you close the throttle you kill the 12 volts to the coil, and when you turn the key off you must be killing the electrics.

The engine will only continue to run if the gasoline in the cylinder explodes (duh)

So if you have no spark then there is something in there that is glowing red hot. The usual culprit is of course carbon build up. Have you decoked the engine recently? The other suspect is a scratch on the piston crown where a burr glows red hot.

I might suspect that with the HEI mod the plug needs to be changed to a hotter one but if that was an issue I am sure that the guys who have done this mod would also have mentioned your symptoms.

That's all I have for you BCM

Best regards
Dave
