Shimmed the secondary on my G1
I decided to make a shim for the secondary clutch to see if I can get a little more low end out of it. I've seen a few threads on here about it but never any pictures. It seems to have worked pretty good. Good low end pulling and no loss in the top end. I'm pretty happy with it. I made it out of 1/4 inch steel plate. Here's a few pics so you can get a better understanding of the set up.

Re: Shimmed the secondary on my G1
Good deal thanks for posting. I had my G9 clutch off and I put it in a vice and made it almost 1" longer...pulling on it carefully. It seemed to help. In the end I ground the ramps down with a jig and that is how I pulled boats out of the ramp with it. I would also recommend a cut sheave, so they go closer together it gives a lower gear on takeoff. Add those mods together and it makes a difference for sure.
Issue with mine is I also cruise around and did not want it revving all the time, so I didn't want a big spring in it, plus they are a pain to install. I like low rpm at low throttle, but it needs to come alive when I floor it for trail use. |
