Re: What's the best self to buy?
I'm guessing that was the result of some "intuitive technology" Some genius code writer decided to auto"correct" the text that was typed.
Tri, what are you putting the belt on? Are you looking for a drive belt, starter belt?? |

Re: What's the best self to buy?
I usually stick with your standard bullhide leather with a ring and single keeper. I try to stay away from belts with a large buckle as it tends to dig into my tool shed if you know what I mean. Ok I'll stop. You have taken enough chit already. |

Re: What's the best self to buy?
OK Tripower I can only give you my opinion for what its worth. Anything to do with the clutch I ordered from Plowmans Carts. I don't know Don Plowman but he seems to be the clutch Guru and he came highly recommended. If your looking for a starter/gen belt You could probably get away with e-bay. Plowman is a site sposer. Hope this helps.

Re: What's the best self to buy?
Save time and money go with plowman, but do not just order parts talk to him about what your long term Ideas are for your cart. Plowman will set you up with parts that will perform corrector and he will not sell you parts you do not need.
That dose sound funny but I have just started reading a book called clutch tuning handbookby Olav Aaen's. and after reading just the first chapter I have concluded that no hobbyist should attempt to change the springs or belts or pules with out talking to a prow(plowman and others). clutches and pules the way they interact is incredible and not knowing the interactions you will problems cause problems and coast you more money. you call!! My plan is to get a plowman secondary clutch just as soon as I can save up the money. |

Re: What's the best belt to buy?
I have the HD kevlar one from CPP, so far it works great and does shift/takeoff better. However it is wider and my clutches are worn, so it makes up for the wear. It does stick out my secondary some and stock belt does not. I compared the two and this works better hands down, the stock belt has a couple years on it with stock engine. I didn't run it much as engine was getting tired (means little trail riding like I used to). I'd say its only the 2nd belt I put on it since 99. So when I put the clone in I put the HD belt on and it works really nice. Have no idea how long they last. I do plan to cut the secondary sheave if the snow ever gets too deep for the cart, and plan on a new clutch this spring as mine is about to wear through.

Re: What's the best belt to buy?
I'm running my second Plowman's belt. I got one with the secondary, and then Don recommended a different one when I installed the hot set up. Both of them held up/are holding up well. My first belt is now on my dad's clone G16, and is working well. I had a cheapy belt when I bought the cart and it lasted a few months. Give Don a call, he's dialed in when it comes to parts.
