A-arm bushing question
This is the control arm / A-arm from a G29 Drive. I checked the maintenance manual and there was very little information about this bushing other than to use a press to remove and install it.
The teeth on the edges of the metal sleeve indicate that this metal sleeve locks in place and isn't designed to rotate. I have removed the shock and when I move the A-arm up/down by hand, the only movement comes from the rubber part of the bushing stretching/contracting. The rubber part of the bushing isn't rotating inside the arm. I know this isn't the case, but it seems like the rubber part of the bushing is bonded to the inside of the A-arm. Is this how the bushing should be working on this cart? Or should the bushing be able to rotate inside the A-arm? Thanks |

Re: A-arm bushing question
Generally the rubber should flex and NOT rotate in the arm. Standard installation procedure is to assemble loosely and tighten the through bolt only after the vehicle is complete, sitting on it's "all fours" on a level surface. This allows the bushings to find their comfortable position and not be in a constant state of twist when the vehicle is at rest.
