Default G1 Oil Mix

I`ve read that it is good to premix oil and gas for the older Yamaha carts. What ratio do I need to mix it and do I just mix it and then pour it into the gas tank? I know this is kind of a dumb question, but I`m new at all this! Thanks in advance!

50:1 is not bad, you might go less oil if you don't run it hard. Use a quality 2 stroke oil. I like the injection it is just some have had it go out on them and snuff the engine. The injection runs very little oil, it only lets it out when you floor it. You mix it in a can, then pour it in the cart to ensure it is mixed well. If you also have the injection it will smoke more, it will smoke more on mix alone because it gets the same amount of oil all the time while the injection cuts it way back at part throttle.

That hose to the exhaust regulates it, iirc at open throttle there is pressure in the muffler and it lets out more oil. There are some specs about it in the G1 manual if you can get one here. The pump is behind the clutch. Normally it hardly smokes at all with the injection system. I think some of these carts are getting mega hours on them and actually braking, since you know, they are mostly early/mid 80s carts and still running.

I premix mine at 80 to 1. The governor is turned down and I don't abuse it. If your gonna run it hard then I would go 50 to 1.

Please explain 50/1 is this 50 parts gas and 1 part oil or what sorry for being ignorant about this mixture thing even though I have been mixing mine for 4 years on both my G1's.
Thanks fellows Calvin.

Added this later:
Is this say 50 gallons of gas to 1 gallon of oil?

If so how many oz. out of a qt. of Yamalube would go into a 5 gallon gas can filled with 5 gallons of gas?

Thanks again Calvin

That works out to approx. 2.6 ounces of oil per gallon of gas, or 13 ozs in 5 gallons of gas. An easier way to do it is to go to your local chainsaw shop and get the small bottles of premeasured engine oil. They have bottles to mix up 2 1/2 gallons of fuel, typically used by loggers and commercial lawncare companies. Buy two, mix it with 5 gallons of gas, and you're set to go. No fuss or measuring. The shop I work for sells Stihl equipment, and their Ultra synthetic oil is superb stuff for 2-stroke engines.
