Default my first golf cart

just got my first golf cart home today..can't wait to rip it apart and start modifing it..lift kit;;wheels/tires;;back seat;;new paint;;diamond plate[polished]on floors and other areas;;;;
need to know exactly what i have..all i know now is it is gas and a yamaha;
serial no#J31-011283 found under rear bumper on left side on cross member..
what do i have?

As Pachanga said, a G1. That is a 2cycle (gas/oil mix) cart with lots of potential but not a lot of "aftermarket" help. If you like doing things yourself you have a cart with lots of potential.

One word of warning: Go easy on the polished diamond plate --- it is slippery and the sun reflecting off the plate on the floors, etc can be uncomfortable due to "blinding" as well as reflecting heat from the sun. There are lots of G1s on this board to look at for ideas, and lots of guys to give help and advice.

didn't get started on it yet as to taking apart..want to run comp. on eng first to see if needs rebuilt ..what should it be..?do i remove belt and crank over with starter to get my compresion?
change of plains on build.going to lower it and do a rake chop on roof[cut little more out of front post then what i cut out of back post]
got my wheels and tires ordered today for it..went with the fairway polished aluminum edge in 12" with low profile tires;;it's a start
