That's right the 48v TXT has a run/tow switch so it is not series drive.
As mentioned the F&R type can be changed to a rocker switch style and still be a series drive. The one thing that won't change is the run/tow switch. It's universally applied that Sepex drive carts have a run/tow switch somewhere on the system.

Try to find the tow-run on a sepex parcar, it does exist, but hard to find. And i have built series conversions out of PDS cars too (switch in dash, but series drive system).

Back to topic. You can build a decent off roader on 36v, but i would upgrade to 48v. I have built lots of 48v conversions, once you take a 36v cart and turn it to 48v, you will have a big smile and never want to go back to 36v.

Farm Boy.....considering what you plan to use your cart for, then YES, go with 48V conversion. depending on some of your choices, you will end up with more torque, more speed (when needed), possible more run time/range.

As CG stated above, once you go 48v, you will never want to go back. all I am waiting for to go to 48V is time.....and the pack I have not to wear out.

I checked today with the 2 dealers close to me and they didn't have any series drive. I guess they must be harder to come buy, at least in my area. I'll keep looking. One did say that he might be getting in some 2005 models next week. Thanks guys.

I called another dealer a couple hours from me they advertise they have over 500 carts for sale and they told me they didn't have any series carts at this time. Are the series drive carts that hard to come buy? What other types besides a older TXT will be a series? Thanks

Just to throw this out there FB, how are your wiring skills ?? Another option is find a dead DCS/PDS sepex cart and convert it to a series. If you were planning on upgrading the motor and controller anyway just gut it and start over. I would recommend the reversing contactor setup so you could keep the FNR on the dash and gently remove the old PDS harness and sell the rest of the parts on fleebay..

I did find a couple but they seem over priced for what I will have to speed doing the build. 2007 TXT =$3300.00 2008 TXT=$3750 I did find a Club car DS 2003 for $1800.00 I'm trying to stay in the $2500 or less range. I can do some wiring never worked on electric motor type stuff. I used to build and race drag bikes and I can do electrical work when we build garages and house additions( I do construction work)I think I could do the conversion but I would rather find a series cart. The dealer That said they have 500 carts didn't act like they wanted to talk to me after I told them my budget was $2500 and wanted a series cart.

THose prices on EZGO are nuts. (unless they have auto ball scratchers while you drive or something) The old 36V series cart is probably the single most common cart on the planet. Everywhere I turn they are for sale. I frequently pick them up with bad batteries for $500-$1000. Most of them are trade in's, but they are also on craigslist pretty often. I've never converted a cart to series, though I have converted a few from series to PDS. One thing I noticed is that series carts rarely ever burn a controller, whereas PDS and DCS have an affinity for doing so. I personally have a 98 TXT series that I put an alltrax and speed motor in and love it. One day I'll add the extra 12V to it for fun, but it already runs 30+mph as it is. You should be able to get a decent series 36V with dead batteries for $1200 or so. Add your own batteries and be at $1700. Then it's a good little cart with plenty of budget left for goodies. Here's an example: http://atlanta.craigslist.org/wat/snw/5089899234.html
Search craigslist for "golf cart" and set up the results for lowest to highest price. Search other local cities as well. The deals are out there, you just might have to hunt a little for them.

Might come with a ball & club washer, nothing worse than dirty balls. Ever notice the womens tee boxes dont have ball washers?
