Re: Ezgo TXT 48 upgrades
Thanks for your reply. I have one last question. I cant justify buying only the 400 amp controller since I am sure i will want to upgrade the motor in the future and your price on the 500 amp is very good. I am assuming you make sure controller is set up for stock motor before it ships out if i specify that on my order? When i play with the programming myself, which i am sure i will be tempted to do, are there any hard limits that i will not want to exceed so i do not burn up my stock motor which would also likely kill my nice new controller?

I'm pre-programming everything that ships out of here. Just shoot me an email at the website when you order for special requests like using big controls on stock motors. The controller is 99% bombproof. You can hook it up backwards or blow the motor to smithereenes and not hurt the control. But , if you let the end of program cable touch the battery posts while plugged into the program port, it will ruin the controller. Motor wise you want to be sure to run a map which is compatible with the motor and you want to keep the motor under 6000 rpms unless instructed otherwise. I always use a motor temp sensor on stuff I know will skirt around the motor's limit. Somewhere I posted the unbridled FSIP speed motor pushed my GPS to 32 mph. S0 I came back and collared it at 6200 RPM and ran 27.5 mph easy. The motor will go anywhere - do anything with 18-20 inch tires. FSIP says it will do bigger tires, but we have found like every other speed motor it does not like big tires and steep hills. This produces excess heat rather quickly as expected. Bottom line FSIP speed motor is a great zoom zoom motor. Put one in my Precedent and got similar results. |

Re: Ezgo TXT 48 upgrades
Just finished my upgrades with the 48500 and 400 solenoid and stock motor. I opted for the MODE LOCK 3 for speed control. I liked the fact to be able to lock out high speeds. We clocked 27 mph going down a slight slope and 23 going up. Weather was kinda crappy so we quit. Hope to have other test runs next week. Used a GPS speedometer app for my phone. Not a whole lot of flat roads where we use it. Works well off-road too!
I also used the 'optional' mounting bracket but in order to position the controller as low as possible i cut off two preset-screw positions on the bracket so i could mount the solenoid in the lowest position. That gave me plenty of clearance at the top. -tom |

Re: Ezgo TXT 48 upgrades
The seat is close maybe even touching on the big 400 solenoid when the flex mount bracket is used. I was surprised when the controller matched and bolted right to the original heat sink. This gives about 1/2 inch clearance.

Re: Ezgo TXT 48 upgrades
I have a good 2 inch clearance after my adjustment. Took all of 2 minutes to grind off with my Dremel. But about 2 hours of staring at it and think of the idea. lol
