Default TXT steering rack

hey,

I was working on a TXT and the customer told me their steering wheel on the car does not turn smooth, it hits a spot of resistance. I checked the steering rack for damage or cracks and found none. So I said it may need to be packed with more grease, so I packed it with a lot of grease. Sure enough the spot of resistance did not go away, so I am assuming the arm inside with the teeth cut into it are jamming up or worn out somehow. I told the customer there is really no adjustment to be made, except having it rebuilt or replacing the unit as your only option.

does that sound right to you EZGO people??

thanks

-Steve

The rack was a common failure for ezgo on that vintage of cars. You can just change the rack, the teeth in the middle of the rack will be worn down. You don't have to change the other parts unless you want too.

thanks for your input golfcartguy

the customer said they were fine with packing it with grease, and once it gets worse with the steering they will have it changed out. I told them that may be a safety issue and not a good idea but lol its their decision...

The way I look at customers golf cars is "its not my cart and not my money" However they want to fix it. I know I leave with a profit every time.
