Battery nut torque
Guys, what is the proper torque for clamping cables on batteries? I have read any where from 50 in/lbs to 125 in/lbs. Also is the practice of using a lock washer a good one? Seems to me the added torque of depressing the lock washer might put too much pressure on the post.
Thanks, Eddie |

Re: Battery nut torque
100 inch pounds is 100 inch pounds no matter if you use a lock washer or not. I use the hardware that came with my Crown batteries, they use a captive lock washer... Just don't use a nylock or any type of self locking nut...

Re: Battery nut torque
Thanks Teecro, just what I am looking for. I am about to pull the trigger on a new set of T-105's and don't want to begin with errors built in. I am assuming that your mention of a "captive lock washer" is what I refer to as a split lock washer?

Re: Battery nut torque
Thanks for the edification. I at least have a chart stored that can remind me of the value I can't seem to remember. Memory... the second thing to go!
