Default help with ez go project.

Hello there, I have recently aquired a 95 EZGO medalist cart that was very much beat up and needed help. i replaced the batteries, swapped a newer txt body onto it, and lifted it along with many other small projects. anyhow, the charger will only charge for about 2 hours then shut off, no matter how long i have run the cart. I'm thinking the PO wired the cart up wrong when he replaced the controller. right now, the pos and neg wires come off of the charging recepticle(on the cart) and run to the controller. something tells me they are supposed to run directly to the batteries instead.

oh yes, the charger is a total charge and still has the old medalist style plug, i am going to order the newer txt recepticle and plug and convert it over.

thanks so much!!!!!

Default Re: help with ez go project.

In early model year Medalists, the heavy wires from the charge receptacle terminated at the solenoid and controller. The "-" wire connected to the B- terminal on the controller and the "+" wire connected to the battery side large stud on the solenoid. In later years, these wires are connected to the main Pos. and Neg. battery pack terminals. Either way works.

If both of the wires from the charge receptacle are connected to the controller (IE: B- and B+), the batteries are not being fully charged.

Make sure the charge wires are connected correctly and then we'll troubleshoot the charger if necessary. (Is it the one pictured below?)
