Default Mpt, 48v, txt, diagnosis problems

Hey guys,

I've been lurking for a while and I have a problem that I can't solve now.

My 48v txt with a Curtis controller started acting up last year, money was tight so I caveman diagnosed it as a solenoid, bought and replaced it, no help.

So now I have a rental controller programmer, it reads a missing contactor.

I have replaced the inductive sensor as well.

Any help?!?

Before it stopped working it was working some times not others, and jerky throttle, then just stopped working all together. Electricity is not my strength, but I can usually get the job done!

Well the missing contactor code usually points to the solenoid. what year is the cart? Does it was a toggle switch for forward/ reverse? Or is it older and have a shifter?

2010, forward reverse toggle on dash, mpt1000 48v

There is an audible contact from the solenoid

I'm not sure with Curtis controller you have, 1206HB, 1264 or 1268. but the solenoid error detection is the same for all three.

There are two control wires that are supposed to have FULL battery pack voltage on them whenever the Run/Tow switch is in Run and the battery charger is disconnected.

The voltage on one of those two wires is compared to the voltage between the B- and B+ terminals on the controller. If the voltage between B- and B+ does not climb to the voltage on those wires, you get a solenoid error.

On a 1206HB, they are pins 5 & 9.
Om a 1264 or 1268, they are 2 & 3, plus pin-4 (Pin is jumpered to Pin-3 in harness)

Is there a secondary cause to this differential? Other than the solenoid that is?

Ok, so I'm getting 49.3 at the battery PAC and 45.5 at the B+ and B- posts on the controller. New development is that the system didn't power up after a turn of the key and tow switch....can the ignition switch or directional toggle give issue here?

Bad connection, connector or wire on the two pins that need to have full battery pack voltage as well as bad high current connections, connectors or cables.

Ok, should I start with disconnecting Inspection and reconnection then?

What are the high current connectors?

Thanks so much,

Okay, the voltage between B- and B+ never reaches the battery pack voltage.

You've already replaced the solenoid, so check the cables between B- on battery pack and B- on controller as well as the cables/connections between B+ on battery pack and solenoid and from solenoid to B+ on controller.

Run/Tow switch and Reed switch are in series with the pins that ought to have full battery pack voltage on them.

Yes. clean the connections before reinstalling

Wherever the heavy ring terminals at each end of the cables connect.
