2005 TXT - PDS - intermittent operation-stuttering
I’m working on a 2005 TXT PDS for the horse rescue that runs intermittently. Unfortunately this cart got stuck in mud just before hurricane Irma and remained there until after the storm.
The mud / water never got into the electronics, however it may have gotten into the motor. The cart will sometimes run after holding the throttle to the floor for a few seconds. It stutters on take off then seems to go to full throttle. Symptoms are same in forward or reverse. At other times I can hold throttle down and push the cart a little forward and it will take off, and sometimes will hold throttle and get nothing except solenoid click. Solenoid has been replaced, ITS replaced, pedal box micro tested and adjustment confirmed. Batteries are good (swapped with a known good set to confirm), wiring is good. I suspect the speed sensor on the motor may have gotten submerged, however I haven’t been able to locate a symptom guide for a bad speed sensor. Any suggestions appreciated. |

Pull the floor mat out and you will see a little door with 4 screws holding it down. Pull that lid off and see if there’s water in there. If so, that’s probably causing your issues.

Already replaced the ITS in the throttle box, and verified the micro switch was working and correctly adjusted.

From your description, it sure sounds like the brushes in the motor are not making good contact. Check the brushes and commutator for tarnish and corrosion. Water is not kind to internal motor electrical components.
