Default Help voltage converter

Default 97 ezgo txt voltage converter Help
I have a 97 ezgo txt I bought a reliance 36v to 12v converter it says yellow wire to main +, black to main -, green to switched power, red will feed your accessories that you want to run on switched power, blue will run accessories that you want to run constant..... I hooked the main wires up then hooked the green to the ignition switch I checked the switch with voltmeter one pin had 36v the other 4.3v I hooked to the 4.3 which turns to 36 when key is in on position.. but with that setup I can hook the red to a light and it will come on when I turn key to on but won't turn off when I turn it to off position... only way the light will cutoff is to hit the tow/haul toggle switch.... HELPPPPPP!!!!

First thought is the ignition switch should be cutting off completely (open circuit) assuming the "4.3V" wire is the switch output, but I'm not sure where the "4.3V" wire is coming from or going to except for most likely the controller. I suppose it could be something in the controller, or maybe a bad ground or ground reference (where did you ground your DMM??). Hopefully someone can jump in here that recognizes the issue. I'm about to install a relay inline with a 48V to 12V converter and wired to the ignition on my 2012 EZGO so we'll see if I have a similar experience.
