Differential Clicking TXT PDS after oil change
Bought this TXT 36 volt used about three years ago. The diff fluid was checked and OK. I finally decided to change it out and when I dropped the pan smelled hypoid oil. Well, went ahead and let it drain out for a day and refilled with 30W. Now I get a clicking on initial start up and as I ride the noise goes away. I am assuming the gear oil was used to quiet down an already noisy diff., or whoever serviced it had no clue of what to use. It was clean with typical metal in it. As I learn to work on these things, where should I look for worn parts? Input shaft bearing?
Would it be out of the question to refill with gear lube until I can get the time to tear into it? Other than the clicking noise, everything appears to be smooth. Thanks |

Re: Differential Clicking TXT PDS after oil change
The factory has used several oils over the years in the same axles. 30w oil, gear lube, "tractor fluid". Put gear oil in it and forget it. Next, pull the motor and lube the input shaft splines, maybe replace the bumper in the coupler.
