I decided to scrap that idea, it would take a 16'-20' trailer.

Ended up buying a 5'x10'. It's full with just the cart in it.

I would like to tackle making one for both out of a boat trailer though.

Great choice, perfect size. I like the custom boat trailer idea too.

I built my trailer out of an old boat trailer. I bolted on some 48" long 2 X 6 cross pieces to the frame rails with galvanized carriage bolts then attached a 3/4" X 4' X 8' sheet of marine grade plywood using deck screws. I attached 2 X 6 side and front rails using deck screws to prevent a loaded cart from sliding off the side or going too far forward. I used a pair of large T hinges and made a pair of ramps. For the ramps, I cut a 12' 2 X 10 length of pressure treated pine in half. When loaded and going down the road, I fold the ramps up against the load, and strap them forward with load straps. When not loaded, I just fold the ramps forward into the trailer deck. I added some different angle photos of the trailer that are shown in photos of my RXV chassis Bandolero road car build project. I also used that trailer to go pick up and deliver various golf carts and a 2Five. It serves me well for an old boat trailer that I had tossed in my scrap heap a couple of decades ago. All it needed was new wheel bearings/seals and a couple of new tires/wheels. I added a swivel front wheel/jack to raise and lower the front of the trailer for connecting/disconnecting to/from the tow vehicle. With the body on, I found it easier to have the Bandolero on the trailer backwards now to allow access to the raise/lower jack handle. The Bandolero is a few feet longer than the trailer deck, and the front end sticks out too far and would hit the jack when it was in the upright position. This made it difficult to hitch the trailer to the tow vehicle if the trailer was loaded. The rear end is higher and clears it with plenty of room. I've also removed the original boat winch and upright since the early pictures were taken. I hope this gives you some ideas for your trailer needs.
