Default Scraping / grinding sound in rear - deceleration / lift off throttle 2014 EZGO TXT48

This issue is with a recently purchased 2014 EZGO TXT48.

Can anyone help me to diagnose the source of a scraping / grinding sound coming from the rear? Happens only on deceleration / lift off throttle.

Any assistance will be appreciated - thanks, in advance!

The problem could be a very worn input shaft and bearings.

Scotty -

Is the input shaft and bearings replacement a complicated task for someone with moderate mechanical experience / tools?

If so, do you sell the parts or can you refer me to a supporting vendor who does?

If not, what should I expect to pay my local golf cart repair facility?

Thanks!

Sounds like it needs a penny fix if it’s only on deceleration. EZGO had an issue with the coupling on the armature of the electric motors from 11-14 ish year models. Pull the motor, inside the input shaft coupler on the armature pull out the old bumper spline and discard, apply anti-seize to coupling, put a penny all the way in and then put a new bumper spline in and that should eliminate your noise.

They used to work great for replacing "pesky" home fuses that kept blowing. Kinda like gum wrapper or cigarette foil in car fuses.

All -

The "penny fix" / new bumper spline repair did the trick.

Thanks!
