Default winch wiring issues

I am attempting to install a 2500lb winch on a 36v E-Z-GO cart. Installed a 30amp converter that has two 15amp legs. Wired lights to one leg and winch to the other. Lights work, winch clicks. I do not believe I am getting enough amps to the winch. Any help in resolving this issue is greatly appreciated.

Default Re: winch wiring issues

You are exactly right !!!

My HF 2500lb winch requires a 50 amp supply... your little 30 /15 amp reducer is not going to work.. it has already, or will soon fail....
also the "low power setup" you have will also damage your winch....

You need to re-think your power needs, a 50 amp device requires at least 6 gauge wire on both leads (don't even think about grounding to the frame !!)

Lots of folks have an extra battery (12v) just for the winch or other hi power accessories...
