Voltage drop is caused by current flow ,so power is going somewhere

I know you said you had the motor apart, but I worked on a flooded cart a while back that had ran after the flood, but then quit. It turned out to be that the motor brushes had corroded and gotten stuck and wouldn't slide back and forth. After a little TLC, and freeing them up, the cart ran good. Do the ohm test on the motor.

Did the resistor get hot?
I didn't check it but I will this evening when I get home. Good point...Yeah I'm thinking I should replace the solenoid.

Thanks for the info. I will do that tonight also. I did notice the brushes were corroded some but I didn't try to move them.

Maybe the motor. If you disconnect one wire at a time and you see a spark that's current draw. If the brushes can't move they will not connect to the armature, but the field will draw power.

Pulled the motor back apart and got the brushes freed up and moving good. Put back together - same thing. I’m thinking it’s the solenoid because of the way the voltage drops at the solenoid when it engages. I have one coming in Wednesday.
Btw - motor ohms 1.2 on the field and 4.4 on the armature. I guess it’s good?

Were they sticking? If you're losing voltage on the controller side of the solenoid when it engages, then the solenoid is definitely bad.

Voltage across the large solenoid terminals should be zero when engaged .

I was talking about voltage with the negative lead on pack negative positive lead on the controller side of the solenoid. If it drops it will mean no voltage is passing through the solenoid.

If voltage changes when solenoid engages then contacts in solenoid must be good. Voltage is pressure, amperage passes though stuff. Amperage causes voltage to drop.
