You could get one of those $80 5A 48V chargers on amazon, though the quality is hit or miss.

Batteries are expensive. Chargers are less expensive. If it were me I would just get an automatic charger, plug it in and forget about it. It will do its own thing and you don't have to worry about overcharging or undercharging the battery pack. I have a DPI on my 48V DS with OBC bypassed and removed, works great.

You can still get the timer boards for those but they're expensive. If nothing else you can get a yewy 1200 from ScottyB for about $275 and have a brand new smart charger that will properly charge the pack.

A battery maintainer will help, but it's still not properly charging the pack. And a 48V maintainer is still like $90. For a band aid?

Try posting here in the classifieds, someone may have an older DPI Accusense unit for sale that doesn't need the OBC, or some other type of smart charger.

This trickle charger will do the job. A number of people on the forum use it (including myself).

Don't use it all the time. Use your big charger to stir up the chemicals and then put this on to keep them topped up in between uses.

I actually have one and thats exactly what i do

Fun fact, I rode the cart alot this weekend and had to charge it 3 times

I noticed that being i used my big charger moer often my pack voltage actually went up an entire 1v

Instead of my cruising voltage being at 47.8 it was 48.9

so the little trickle isnt actually keeping it tip top

I have this same charger and end up using it the same way you describe, I've found that I only want to use this charger when I don't plan on using for 4 weeks or more...

If you're using your cart a lot, use the big charger all the time. The trickle charger is good for keeping the charge up when you are not using your cart for a while. I find the opposite to you, if I don't use the cart for a while and I put on the trickle charger it actually raises the voltage. But you must charge with the big charger first each time the cart is used.

If you had to charge the cart 3 times in one weekend it sound like your batteries are weak.
