CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
Hey All,
I have a completely Stock 2003 CC DS pathway with all the street legal additives. Including the front brakes. I would like to put 14in wheels with 20in tires. So this requires a lift. I would like to do a 3in lift. Cart currently goes 13mph. There are no hills where I will drive the cart. My question. Do I ditch the front brakes? It would make finding a lift kit that doesnt need a front brake adapter easier? Next Mods to be: -Roof Cargo Rack -Heavy Duty Rear Spring -Trailer Hitch Thanks |

I would not give up those brakes unless it was a "Had too!" situation. They make the carts extremely safe, even at the lower speed you are currently traveling.

Re: CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
You don't need any adapters if you want to get rid of the breaks. The only difference in the lift kits is they don't have the mount plate for the brake backing plates. I'm pretty positive the front spindle is the same otherwise. Any 3" kit you can get is going to be a spindle kit, which are not the greatest when it comes to steering/handling or longevity.
You're better off IMO to get a 4 or 6" A arm lift, which will only need to use your existing front wheel hubs. The brakes will be removed with the factory spindles. If you would rather keep the brakes, (personally I would) then get a factory style z-lift that just uses your entire existing front suspension. |

Re: CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
Thanks for the info
Definitely would like to keep the front brakes for safety. Jakes makes a 3in spindle with front brake adapters kit. Is the 4in z lift a better quality ride then the spindle lift ride? |

Re: CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
I had a similar problem when I added an AllSport 4" lift to my cart. After giving up with Jake's for any help I took my old spindle with adapter and the new spindle to a machine shop. I had them remove the attachment plate from the old and place exactly the same on the new spindle. Here are some pictures.

Re: CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
I put on 3 inch on my Pathway years ago and didn't have to do anything at all with the brake set up. Unfortunately, I have no clue what type of lift I used but, for sure, the brakes are as-was and the cart functions as it should.

Re: CC Electric DS Pathway Front Brake Delete?
Ordered the Jakes 3in Spindle with Brake Adapters. Did not want to cut my frame.
Went with 14in Wheels, 20in AT tires. Hoping for no rub and decent ride. |
