Question about amperage of voltage reducer
My quest to restore my '93 EZGO Marathon continues.....
I have decided to upgrade everything to 48V and add a few accessories - LED light bar, LED underbody lighting and a cell phone charger. So of course I am going to need a voltage reducer. So I started doing a little math (and I hate math) - between the headlights/tail lights/brake lights and the light bar I'm already looking at about a 25 amp draw. The underbody LEDs draw another 3 amps, putting the total at 28 when I drive in the dark. Would a 30A voltage reducer handle that, or should I buy a bigger one? I read somewhere that the voltage reducer should be double what your anticipated load will be. Or should I install two - one for the light bar and a separate one for the everything else? |

Re: Question about amperage of voltage reducer
30A would work in spirit, but I’m having a hard time believing modern lights would use that many amps. Are these LED light kits? I think my LEDGlow lights are like 2A.

Hint: The LED lightbar only draws 72W (6A @ 12V), the wiring harness is rated for 180W max. |
