I installed an aftermarket led light kit. I ran a line from my brake switch and when brake is pressed the brake lights work but the head light comes on. What have I done wrong? Any help is appreciated

Thumbs up Re: Txt brake light problem!!!!!!

Need more info. What kind of wiring is it? Did you add the lights your self are they factory what.

Most LED lights have 3 wires. Depending on who made them. Color codes are not the same for them. So we will need to know the wires and what they are.
But it sounds like you got your wires crossed up.

Aftermarket kit. The wires to brake lights are 2 black and 1 black and blue. All lights wired to key switch and work properly. Brake switch is connected to black and blue wire which is the only one that makes brake lights illuminate but the headlight comes on too when brake is pressed.

Talking Re: Txt brake light problem!!!!!!

Well you need 3 wires to have brake lights. If the tail lights only have 2 wires you are using the brake light elements for a ground wire and that is why the head light is coming on and the brake lights. The only way to get brake lights is to add ground wires to both tail light housings.
The 2 wires coming out of the light housing are for running lights and brakes but the ground can't go through the frame metal so you have to add a ground wire to the housing and back to the battery negative for 12 volts.

There are 3 wires 2 black and 1 black w blue stripe. Brake lights work only when switch wires into black w blue but headlight also comes on when brake presses

Well you have to trace the wires out and find where they are crossed up at. LED lights don't play well if the polarity is swapped in the wiring. If it's just one head light coming on I would suspect that side of the wiring is the problem.
