Default 2002 ezgo txt

I have a 2002 ezgo 36 volt cart. It just stopped working. When I raise the rear of the cart the tires barley rotate. They cart is fully charged. I changed the solenoid hoping that was it. The tires won’t go in reverse. It has the F/R switch on the dash. Do those go bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a 2002 with a PDS (sepex) drive.

There should be a Run/Tow switch on the controller cover if it is.

Does the solenoid click when the pedal is pushed?

Amps not getting to controller, or not getting through controller or motor is sick.

Let's check motor first. Connect your voltmeter between the controllers A1 terminal and B+ terminal. Should read same as the battery pack voltage when pedal is on floor. If it does, check between the controller's F1 and F2 terminals. Should read about 3V when pedal is on floor.

If both of those readings are good, the motor is sick. Brushes maybe.

Here are the results. Between A1 B+ I have pack voltage. Between F1 and F2 with pedal pressed I have 11.0

Sounds like motor issues or bad cables to motor.

Gain access to the motor terminals and measure the voltage between A1 and A2 with pedal on floor. Ought to be the same as between A1 and B+ at the motor.

If it is, disconnect the cables from the motor and use an Ohmmeter to check the following:
A1 to A2 - BETWEEN 0.3Ω and 1Ω.
F1 to F2 - BETWEEN 1Ω and 2Ω.
A1 to F1. This must measure OPEN.
F1 to motor case. This must measure greater than 5MΩ.

Okay did all of the tests. Had the meter set to 2m. Voltage between A-l A- was around 18.7 I was the same between A-1 b+ With motor disconnected A1 A2 was 0.56 F1 to F2 was .066. When I pressed the pedal it went to .036. A1 to F1 it slowly went to 0. F1 to motor case was at 0. This was all done on the 2M setting. Hope this helps? Thanks for your time.

2m scale? Is that the 2 Megohm scale on your Ohmmeter?

IF so, it ought to be on the lowest Ohm scale for the first two readings and on the highest Ohm scale for the last two.

Also with the cables disconnected from the motor, the Ohm reading shouldn't change when pedal is pushed.

What is the make and model of the meter you are using?
