Here is the up date. Changed the motor. I have intermittent reverse. Doesn’t seem like I have full power. Is the controller bad?

Here is another update on my 2002 cart. I have changed the motor. The controller and the solenoid. With cart raised the wheels run very slowly. In reverse not at all. If I reverse the wires on the forward reverse the cart will run slowly in reverse. I have full pack voltage. The only things I haven’t changed are the speed sensor and the forward reverse. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The solenoid clicks, so the problem is in the high amp circuit.

Connect your DVM between the B- and M- (labeled A1 on a stock PDS controller). Press pedal just far enough to make solenoid click and you she read FULL battery pack voltage (38.2V if fully charged).

If you don't have pack voltage, use the attached schematic to find it.

If you do have pack voltage, press pedal to floor and voltage should decrease to 0V. If it doesn't, check the throttle input to the controller. Attachments 2 & 3 tell you how.

Okay. One more update. Went thru all of the things on your email. Everything tested good. I had already bought a new F/R switch and speed sensor. I changed both. I now have forward always sometimes at restricted speed. Reverse works intermittently. If I place the cart in reverse and then forward I have full speed. Works the same for the reverse. Any ideas out there? Thanks!

Johnny in your second post. You asked that I check between A- and B+ with the pedal down I only get 18.5. Battery pack voltage is 37.5. This cart goes into reverse only intermittently. When in forward it only runs at half speed. I have changed the controller. and the motor. I am lost. Any help would be great.

Just re checking every item. Between pin 3 in J4 the volts were 2.5 seems low ?

The voltage between the A1 and B+ terminals on the controller is the voltage being applied to the motors armature. It only goes up to 18.5, which is roughly 1/2 of the battery pack voltage, so the cart's speed is roughly 1/2 of the expected top speed.

The ITS throttle voltage on J4 Pin-3 with the pedal on floor should be between 2.5V to 3.3V, so your voltage is within specs.

---------------
When in forward, what voltage do you have on J1 Pins 1, 2 and 3?
When in reverse, what voltage do you have on J1 Pins 1, 2 and 3?

does the beeper sound when in reverse?

Here are the results J-1 pin1 37.5 pin 2 000 pin 3 37.5
In reverse pin 1 37.1 pin 2 37.5 pin 3 37.1

Voltage from F/R switch are normal for both F and R, so the controller is being told to do forward and to do reverse.

Check the thick wire (10Ga) to the F1 & F2 terminals on controller to F1 & F2 on motor. They have a nasty habit of rubbing on the battery box frame and wearing through the insulation.

Also make sure the terminals are clean and tight at both ends.
