Re: Micro switch shorting out
There are two ways a diode fails, one way is closed = no current flow in either direction. The other way is open, like this one.

Re: Micro switch shorting out
I’m having the same problems with my 95 medalist, Went through two micro switches in the pedal box. Every time I hit the gas pedal it just burns them out. I don’t know what to do, please help

Re: Micro switch shorting out
I was about to jump it. Why would it burn the wiring? I would think the same current flows through the wires when it’s jumpered as when its switch. My switch is definitely bad. I had reversed the diode. Thanks

Re: Micro switch shorting out
The wording in this post is confusing. The throttle micro switch is normally closed, so it is supposed to be "shorted" if tested on a bench. It is only "un-shorted" when the throttle is not pressed and the metal ring clicks the MS in.
The click you hear when pressing the throttle is actually the button on the switch being released. How is it shorted? Does it smoke? If the metal ring that activates the MS is not adjusted correctly it will bend the switch's metal arm out of place the first time you hit the throttle. This would result in a stuck on solenoid and you probably needing a new MS. |
