Ok,
the charge rate seems normal. You will have to replace that plug assembly. It is literally toast! You can get some crimp connectors, cut the burned plug out and just join the wires for now. I never liked that type of connector. I've had lots of them fail. They seem Ok for circuits that don't draw much current, but 20 amps over time tends to fry them!

Yeah, it looks more like something you would find under the hood of a car. I'll cut it out tomorrow, use crimp connectors and put heat shrink over them.

5 new batteries, new battery trays and I removed the plug that was overheating...now all the issues have been resolved.
