Alltrax upgrade issues
Hoping someone can help with a couple issues. Main issue is hard jerking both forward and reverse with partial throttle. If I hammer the pedal down it's not nearly as noticeable, but still there.
I've put it on jack stands and monitored it through the software, and the throttle was stable at, no random jumping around. But when I took it for a quick drive, it started jumping on me, but did seem to smooth itself out after a few quick spins. Assumed the MCOR may be bad at first, but now not so sure?? Also only getting 22mph with lifted cart, 22inch tires, XCT 500, 2G wires, and plum quick bandit motor. Assumed I'd be getting a bit more, but have a feeling a battery(s) may be weak. Getting right around 51.0 fully charged, but drops to 45 or so under load on flat ground, and seems to die much quicker than before the upgrade (was bandit motor before with stock controller and cables). Any thoughts? Particularly on the harsh jerking at partial throttle? Thanks guys! |

Re: Alltrax upgrade issues
A quick check for your batteries would be to find a big hill. Connect your meter across the pack and drive up the hill. If the voltage drops below 40Vs you need new batteries.

Re: Alltrax upgrade issues
Jerking around at part throttle almost certainly sounds like a failing MCOR. It could also have to do with the way your throttle curve and regen amps are set. Try turning the regen down and see if it helps. The alltrax toolkit is also able to log data as you drive, so give that a shot and see if the throttle % is changing while the jerking is occurring.
Batteries dropping to 45v under load is not helping in the speed department. Pack voltage makes a big difference in overall speed, and if those batteries are more than a few years old it may be best to replace them. Another major factor in battery voltage under load is the capacity Amp Hour of the battery. A lower AH battery will have a larger voltage drop under load. What brand and model are your batteries? how old are they? Is there any info on the labels that mentions AH or reserve capacity? |
