All battery tests should be done while batteries are settled and at rest.

After a charge battery readings can be falsely high for up to 12 hours.

After heavy usage readings can also be low and then recover somewhat in time...

Voltmeter = buy a $50 digital multimeter form a big box store like Home Depot. It is essential to anyone wanting to learn to properly operate and maintain a golf cart.
Hydrometer = $7 auto parts store. Get the temperature compensating model for true readings. Measures the level of activity in a cell.
Load tester = Harbor Freight sells a 100 amp tester for about $50. This is the big gun tester for the little guy. Dealerships use a larger discharge machine but this is pretty good for testing 6 and 12v batts.

You can get buy with the first two..... use this chart below to compare your findings. Print it out and post it in the garage, where the cart is kept

Since you are new, you have a lot to learn about proper battery usage and maintenance. Search and read, read, read. Remember Never discharge a battery below 50% of it's capacity & never leave a battery in a state of discharge, always recharge at the earliest opportunity. Hope this helps

If the hydrometer test is fair on one battery could this mean there is too much water in that battery or does this mean that battery is def bad?
