Zero is pretty serious. You either have a hole in the piston or a burnt out exhaust valve or a stuck open valve. I would remove the valve cover and see if a valve is jammed open. However I fear that you have a seriously distressed engine.

I agree with Dave, I have the eh29 in my 93 compression on both cylinders runs about 150. you'll just have to tear into it . How long did it set before you got it?

I think you have a stuck open valve, pull the cover and peek at it.
Might just need a tap with a small hammer.

The valves are notorious for wearing to the point you have no adjustment left on the rocker. They will literally come completely through the seat. It could be a hole in a piston, burnt valve or even out of adjustment.(not closing) If you loosen the adjusters all the way off and still get no clearance between rocker then new valves are in order. Adjustment info in the stickies.

Are you sure that the piston in the dead cylinder is moving? Could be it threw a rod on that cylinder and the piston is stuck up out of the way enough for the motor to run. I have a 295 parts motor that has a piston that is stuck just like that and it turns freely by hand with no interference from the broken rod.

I have seen several engines comes thru with a broke rod and believe it or no they are quiet, the complaint is "My cart has no power".

Remove the spark plugs, rotate engine over while looking down thru plug hole in cyl with no compression. see if you see the piston moving. if not than you have a broken rod.
