If not, what can be used to replace this engine?

Could we find a golf cart junk yard and replace the whole back end from other any other carts?

He bought the cart cheap so he want to get the lowest cost option possible. Please let me know.
I'm not sure I would JB weld it, if it had cracks in the case they are there for a reason. Putting a band-aid on it will work for a little while and then your back to square one. I agree with ruredy and trying to find a replacement engine.

Dock and Hotmomma, I agree with you but for $7 it's worth a try.

It is used to get up and down a path at the lake. He only makes it down there about 5 times a year so usage is pretty limited.

His options are:
1) try to find another 2-cycle. Hard to find and large dollars.
2) cheap 4-cycle - but no reverse
3) replacement back end off newer cart - cost too much money and beer.

Work estimates are based in cases of beer. My lift kit ended up costing 3 cases of beer instead of 1 because the back springs were a bear to get out. Plus we had to think about it.

Well, jb weld does hold to well to oil and since the case has been soaking in it from day 1 that kind of repair might not take. maybe you could wrap the case in fiberglass or plaster of paris, bondo even. heck duct tape should fix it for that matter.
