Re: Newbie with a workhorse!
ok so today i got a new battery but i think it is too big the guy said it would work great but i do not want to hurt the electric system. it calls for a 360 cca battery but the one he gave me was a 510? any thoughts? also checked the valves and they were out of adjustment, so i adjusted them. i tried to do a compression test but could not get starter to turn over. i pulled the starter and tore it down the brushes are pretty worn and one was stuck so i am going to try to find some brushes tomorrow and rebuild starter tomorrow so maybe i can get it running tomorrow??
again thanks for all the help i will try to get some pics tomorrow as well. |

Re: Newbie with a workhorse!
that battery should be fine. Was the starter trying to move? Check the solenoid if not. Once you get it running, you can recheck the valves with the engine warmed up.

Re: Newbie with a workhorse!
The battery is fine, A bigger battery will not "push" amps out into an electrical system, it just means you have more amps available if needed. (lights, radio, winch) Your system and accessories will draw what it needs.

if you are looking for the number to see if its a 28 or 36 deg then look on the differential side of the clutch. it should be stamped.
