Governor adjustment

I adjusted the governor on my 04 ezgo. it is running about 21 mph. How bad is this on the motor?

I pretty much drive with the pedal to the metal all the time

What gpshemi said... you will kill it running it flat out.

If you want more speed out of that rig you can go bigger tires and a half to one inch shorter drive belt...and ease off the loud pedal a bit. Your motor will thank you for it!

I got the inch shorter belt and 22" tires. The belt makes cart slower but gives it more power. I will just have to lightened the foot on the pedal

I don't know how long you've had the belt on, but I've heard once the belt breaks in you will regain your top end...or very close to it. I can't swear to it but I'ma gonna find out for sure shortly --I'm picking up a Dayco HPX either later this week or next week for mine.

The shorter belt will for sure cause you to lose some of your top end. With a belt an inch sorter youre likely to never strecth it to the point you will get the speed back. A break in period on a belt will help tight shifting. Bigger tires will help the speed but the shorter belts purpose is pretty much for pulling and low end power...

I bought a nice hours/rev counter on Ebay for about $10. Installation consists of wrapping a wire around the spark plug lead. I disconnected the govenor and then read from the manual that the max revs were 5000 so I keep it below that. Engine is going to last forever.

I bought a 2009 RXV 13 HP and tried the governor nut adjustment, I only went down 3/16 to 1/4 in on the threads and not seem to make difference, is something on 2009 different, because it worked GREAT on my 03 workhorse 1200 and I learned that from here. Should I go more on the adjustment?
