Default Battery to buy? G9

My cart came with a junk battery just good enough to prove the cart could start. Didn't really find an answer during the search i did.

Looking to buy a replacement battery for it, was running the deep cycle for my RV but it's time to get that ready for the year so now I need one for the cart.

Since the battery does start the cart then charges does that mean a deep cycle battery is not needed?
What size do you run?

Thanks

I am running a deep cycle, but my G2 came with a cheap ATV battery from Walmart. It worked fine I just changed it because I added lights and had a extra RV battery laying around.

As stated, almost anything that fits will work,Group-24 fits nice,a Deep-Cycle is good if you have a stereo with amps,or a ton of accessories.Hope this helps.

All gas yamaha G2 and later (not sure about G1) had a "group 24" battery from the factory.
