Default Melex 212

I have an old Melex 212 I think. My question is I want/need to get more power/speed out of it. I don/t need anything that is crazy fast but would like to be able to climb some hills with out questioning if it will make it. I did replace all of the batteries with new ones(36V system). I am getting ready to replace all of the battery cables. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Put48v to it. You will need to change solenoid. I would also bump the cables to 4 or 2ga. Eventually, solid state controller.
