Need Help with old Harley
I am wondering where to start on this thing. I dont know to much about electric engines. It has six 6volt batteries which im a little confused with the silnoids(?) why are there 5 of them? How should my batteries be wired? It wont hold a charge for more than 15 to 20 minutes. This cart used to be gas but was switched to electric, the motor is also a harley motor, so I'm guessing the whole electric setup was take from a different model of harley and just put in this one. Anyone know of a wiring diagram or is this some sort of custom setup?

Not a real sparky man but looking at the mixture of batteries I think you are not getting a full charge.

Re: Need Help with old Harley
The 5 solenoids are integrated with the resistor coils and regulate speeds at anything less than wide open throttle. It's an old and wasteful system compared to today's electronic speed controllers.

and that is the real freaky system. The way it regulates speed is by adding more battery power as you go thru the system. Starts off on 6 volts, then 12 volts and so on.

Re: Need Help with old Harley
It is a start and run system. Depending on the motor, the batteries are used to start the motor then change to another set to run.
