2003 Carryall 272
My rev limiter is cutting in at low rpm and I want to replace it but I can find the location. I looked at wiring diagrams but they don't help much. Where is it located? This cart is a recent purchase and other than this problem runs ok. Also, it doesn't want to move when you first give the gas and as the rpm increase it will suddenly snatch and go chirping the tires.

It has a hd spring in the drive clutch. If the chirping tires get annoying I cut a wrap off the spring to lessen the spring tension.

tpg- Why doesn't the cart move until the rpm get high. It only does it on initial start up. When it's been running a little bit it stops but after sitting a while it will do it again. What spring in which clutch?

Re: 2003 Carryall 272
It has a stiffer spring in the drive clutch. The stiffer spring raises the engagement rpm by about 200 rpm. This lets the cart idle without the clutches trying to engage.

Re: 2003 Carryall 272
Thanks tog but when I say high rpm, I mean 1000 rpm before the clutch just grabs and jerks your head back. It will do this until the cart has driven around for 10-15 minutes.

Re: 2003 Carryall 272
Replace the drive clutch. This is very common. Some stall is normal, but 1000 RPM is excessive... 101800606 is the OEM number if it's got a 350. 101800608 if it's got a 400.
