Troubleshooting '93 DS
Cart got a little sluggish then wouldn't start. Checked fuel pump and it's working.
New spark plug. Pulled the carb and sprayed it out with carb cleaner. But gaskets looked bad. Now carb is leaking gas and still won't start. Ordered a new carb and gasket that goes between throttle body and carb. If it doesn't run with new carb, any suggestions? How does the choke system work? Looks like an empty box. Does it just push air? I did see that the box shifted away from choke button and I had to push it back. Still no start. I've been trying to figure out how to confirm good spark, good igniter, etc but not having much luck. Any advice would be appreciated! |

Re: Troubleshooting '93 DS
Lots of ways to confirm ignition but here is one of the simplest. I have an inline spark light. Inexpensive auto parts house item. Plug it in between plug and wire to see spark delivery.

Re: Troubleshooting '93 DS
When you depress button by your left leg it just restricts the air flow to carb. You could do the same by covering part of intake opening on carburetor. With it leaking gas it sounds like possible trash in needle valve in carb. Leaking to outside indicates a bad gasket which also would let in too much air which could make it sluggish. A new carb and gasket will probably do the trick. Possibly could have gotten by with the gasket and cleaning and adjusting of old carb. Good luck!

Re: Troubleshooting '93 DS
I went back with OEM when I replaced mine just to be safe but gave considerably more money. From the reviews on the one that you bought it appears to be worth the chance. It is a great price for a new carburetor and had great reviews.
