Default Yamaha G29 Frame Sandblasting Best Practices

BGW's, I've stripped my Yamaha G29 down to the frame in order to sandblast, repair, and paint.
For those of you that have done this, are there any best practices or tips you learned. Mistakes to avoid?

Also, since I am in maintenance mode, are there reinforcements I should make while I have this thing apart?

Thanks!

I'm doing the exact same thing. There are some place that are pretty had to get to and for those I use a sand blaster. For others I use a flap disc. I am thinking about buying some rust inhibiting paint so that way I don't have to spend much more time on it.

Default Re: Yamaha G29 Frame Sandblasting Best Practices

I recently completed refurbing my third G22. My frames were in pretty decent shape with what I would call minimal rust and corrosion. After good pressure washing, I wire brushed on a grinder then used a rust encapsulating coating. I then sprayed truck bed liner (spray can) in the battery tray area. Just used Rustoleum spray on the other parts. I have a HF sandblaster but did not want to use it as it really makes a mess. I don't think mine really needed sandblasting and I was happy with the result.
